Reminders for Everyday Care

Sometimes caregivers need reminders, just like their loved ones.

Daily Check-Ins

Phrasing is Everything

Leverage Tools You Already Use

Establish (and be consistent) with  short, repeatable check‑ins to help you notice what needs attention today.  Always include:

  • Meds Check-in ("Did you take..." and "Do we need to refill any prescriptions...")

  • Discuss and remind of upcoming (or TBA) medical, social, grooming, or faith-based appointments

  • Assess your loved one's mood, and energy (and note your own as well

Practice using clear language, without assumptions that your loved one remembers previous conversations.  Some examples:

“I want to make sure you’re getting the support you deserve — can we try having someone come by a few hours a week to help with X and see if it makes things easier?”

“I’ve noticed you’ve fallen/confused about meds lately.  For your safety I’d like us to try this plan for a few weeks and then re-evaluate — does that feel OK?”

Every phone, tablet, laptop and desktop has tools you already use.  Why not leverage those as a component of your everyday care?
